Why Did Tigerflag Close?

I began Tigerflag Natural Perfumey in 2005 with the intention of making natural, non-toxic perfumes available to people who have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. In addition to my other jobs, I also wanted a side business to bring in a little extra money. I had a dream of creating a business that would treat people the way I wanted to be treated- like a person, not a number.

I wrote this website from scratch as a labor of love. It worked for five years, for which I am proud. I learned a lot and that's always fun.

But lately, costs for handmade natural perfumes have gone up. Packing supplies, postage, accounting, overhead, etc. have all gone up. Worst of all, thanks to "Rewards Cards", credit card fees began taking up to ten-percent of the gross. (Just so you know, the "cash back" that people get from their Rewards Cards is paid by the merchant, not by the credit card company.) And no, PayPal is not an option for many reasons. With few people willing to pay by Money Order, it simply became too much work for not enough reward. It's time to move on.

I have enjoyed serving you these past years. You have been the best customers in the world, and many of you have become friends. Thank you.
